Our story
Mindful Kids was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: mindfulness is our natural state, but modern life often pulls us away from it. Since 2016, we’ve been helping children and the adults around them reconnect - with themselves, with nature, and with the present moment. What began as a small initiative has grown into an internationally recognised training course, equipping educators, parents, and wellbeing professionals with the tools to share mindfulness in nature with children worldwide.

Nurturing the next generation, naturally
More presence, less pressure.
More green time, less screen time.
After all, it's in our nature.

About us
Discover the story behind Mindful Kids, our mission, and the pioneering work of founder Ciaran Ivanovic in bringing mindfulness and nature together - for everyone's benefit.
Ciaran Ivanovic is the founder of Mindful Kids and creator of the UK’s first internationally-accredited course Teach Mindfulness in Nature to Children.
A parent of three children (21,18 & 13) and qualified Mindfulness Practitioner, Nature Therapist, and Montessori teacher, Ciaran has spent over a decade pioneering ways to make mindfulness more accessible, intuitive, and effective for children and the adults who support them.
Mindfulness is our natural state – but the pressures of modern life often pull us away from it. By combining mindfulness with nature, Ciaran and the practitioners who train with her help children, parents, educators, and therapists reconnect with their innate ability to focus, self-regulate, and find calm. This approach is particularly transformative for the neurodivergent and those struggling with anxiety, as nature removes barriers that often make traditional mindfulness practices feel inaccessible.
With a 25-year personal meditation practice inspired by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, Ciaran has also trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Tai Chi, Qigong, and is an accredited member of ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists). Alongside nature, she integrates mindful movement into her work, recognising its powerful role in easing anxiety and bringing busy minds into the present moment - an effect that is doubled when practiced outdoors.
Ciaran works closely with charitable organisations like Heath Hands, offering free mindful walks for parents and carers and supporting adolescents on the CAMHS waitlist with nature-based mindfulness to foster calm and connection.
Through her accredited training, one to one counselling, workshops, and ‘Walks of Wonder,’ Ciaran is dedicated to equipping both children and adults with lifelong, side-effect-free tools for resilience and wellbeing - rooted in the simple, healing connection between mindfulness and nature.

How nature-inspired mindfulness benefits children
Bringing mindfulness and nature together creates a simple, powerful way to support children’s well-being. Here’s why it works:
A natural stress-reliever
Time in nature slows our breathing, lowers our heart rate, and helps us feel calm - just like mindfulness. Together, they offer a simple, side-effect-free way to reconnect, and reduce stress and anxiety.
Boosts focus & attention
Nature naturally captures children's attention, making it easier for them to focus and learn. When we engage with nature our brain relaxes and recharges, bringing us back to a state of balance. This helps us refocus and concentrate, which can be especially helpful for children (and adults) with ADHD and Autism.
Breaks down barriers
Traditional mindfulness techniques don't work for everyone. Nature removes barriers, making mindfulness more accessible - even for neurodivergent children and those who struggle to sit still.
A break from screen time
With so much time increasingly spent on screens, children engage mostly with their sense of sight and sound. Nature encourages them to use all their senses (crucial to healthy childhood development) and reconnect with the present moment.
Supports emotional wellbeing
Being around nature helps children feel safe and calm, making it easier to learn the mindfulness techniques they need to build resilience, emotional awareness, and develop self-regulation.
Simple, fun & flexible
Nature-inspired mindfulness is easy to fit into daily life as it can be practiced anywhere - on a woodland walk, in the playground, or even indoors with nature-based objects and mindful movement.
Encourages compassion
Mindfulness in nature helps children feel more connected to the world around them and all living things. This builds empathy and kindness - towards themselves, others, and the planet.
A solution for life
Mindfulness in nature is a simple, cost-effective way to support children's mental health. These techniques are easy to learn, fun to practice, and provide lifelong tools to find calm, focus and balance.
Creates calm
Parents, caregivers and teachers need to feel calm and present to best support the children in their care. Nature-inspired mindfulness reduces stress and creates a more peaceful space for everyone to thrive.
Thank you so very, very much for teaching me Mindfulness.
I have come a long way since the beginning and did so because of you.
I hope you have enjoyed teaching me as much as I have enjoyed learning. Thank you for everything.
